Teachers teach specific subjects to learners who are between 7 and 20 years of age. They use methods of lecture and presentation to teach subjects such as history, maths, science, life skills and languages.
Teachers take care of daily tasks involved in running a classroom. They develop lesson plans to teach subjects according to the prescribed curriculum. They assist learners to apply the lessons from class. They regularly test learners to monitor their progress. They record the scores and create progress reports and report cards.
Teachers often facilitate or supervise cultural activities. Teachers may provide advice to students with behavioural or learning problems. They may meet with students, parents, and professional and counselling staff to try and resolve these problems. They may also provide general academic advice to learners with regards to subject choices.
