Sports Coaches assist sports people to enhance their skills and fitness in order to perform better and be more competitive on the sports field.
They study latest coaching trends, analyse the strengths and weaknesses of opposition teams and devise strategies and game plans. Coaches ensure that sports people are in good shape, well motivated and ready to play. They may suggest diets and exercises to improve strength and stamina. They also organise physical examinations for players. They monitor minor injuries that may impact on the performance or health of a sports person.
Some Coaches work with sports people on school or university level. Some coach professional teams or individuals. Sports Coaches may also have some administrative duties. For example, they may meet with the school, university or regulating body to discuss budgets, training and schedules.
