Social Workers are professionally qualified people who aim to solve social problems related to poverty, crime, violence, illness and anti-social behaviour. They work closely with health care and social service providers. When they get new clients, Social Workers identify their problems, concerns and needs. Once they have enough information, Social Workers devise plans to help clients.
Child welfare Social Workers look after the safety and health of children. They check out reports of child abuse and sometimes place children in foster care. They also participate in rehabilitation programmes for inmates and assist families of people jailed for criminal offences.
Some Social Workers provide help to older people and their families. In schools, Social Workers identify students’ problems and find help for them. Problems may include misbehaviour in class, too many absences and teen pregnancy.
