Plumbers play an important role in enhancing the quality of life of people by providing the piping and structural infrastructure for water, sanitation and drainage.

When a new house or building is constructed the Plumber is contracted to install all water pipes, taps, toilets, showers, kitchen sinks and other appliances. Plumbers also install systems in factories for the manufacturing of a wide range of products, in power stations for the generations of electricity and in air conditioning systems for the for the heating or cooling of the building. To perform these duties, the Plumber must be able to read architects drawings’. He must also be able to measure and work accurately. Plumbers spend much of their time at the workbench cutting, bending and joining up sections of pipe for kitchens, bathrooms etc. All plumbing work must comply with health and building regulations as well as by-laws laid down by local authorities.

Repairs and alterations from an important part of the Plumber’s work. This includes simple tasks such as the replacement of washers in leaky tabs and the bending of burst water pipes.
