Machine Tool Setter and Operators set up, operate or tend lathes, milling, grinding and drilling machines to produce specific metal or plastic part from billets. Rod or bar stock according to specifications.

Machine Tool Setter and Operators work from blueprints, drawings, or work orders. They determine the required materials and machine settings and adjust machine settings or cutting devices to produce the specified cuts. They monitor the cutting operation and make adjustments to correct problems, if necessary. When a component is completed, Machine Operators will check the part against quality requirements and specifications.
