Human Addiction Counsellors help people to overcome alcohol, drug, gambling and other dependencies.
Addiction is a disease. People with addictions suffer emotionally, physically and economically. It is the responsibility of Human Addiction Counsellors to help these people to identify their problems, to rehabilitate and find ways to lead normal, healthy and productive lives again.
Addictions Counsellors provide treatment in a variety of settings including hospitals, private and public treatment centres and private practice. They help their client change compulsive habits and learn new ways of coping with problems. They work with individuals and groups. They may help families learn how to deal with the emotional and social effects of addictions.
