Electronics are involved in the generations, transformation, distribution and usage of electricity.
Electronics are responsible for the installation of all cables, lights and switches, plugs and electrical equipment when new buildings are constructed. Electricians also install electrically operated equipment such as generators, water heaters, stoves, refrigerators and heaters. Law allows only qualified electricians to do this work. The electrician is responsible for the final safety inspection of all electrical installations. He or she will issue a certificate stating that the installations are safe to use.
In the distribution of electricity, the Electrician supervises the erection of pylons and the connection of high-tension cables he also installs transformers and switchboards. The electrician may also be involved in the construction of power stations and sub-stations.
Electricians can also specialise in fields such as armature winding, cable splicing and the maintenance of high-tension cables.
