Carpenters work with wood. They do a variety of construction work ranging from wooden floors to dry walling. Carpenters are versatile people they replace doors, windows and locks, repair furniture, build cupboards for kitchens, bathrooms, offices etc. They work with hand and power tools and are able to read building plans and do computer designs and layouts.

Most Carpenters work on construction sites for new buildings. They are normally self-employed or they work for construction businesses, government departments or even schools.

The work of the Carpenter is physically demanding as they must often stand, kneel, climb and bend to perform their duties. To be a Carpenter one must love to work outdoors as well.
