Announcers and Newscasters are normally well known to radio and television audiences. Although these careers seem to be all glamour, it is indeed hard and stressful work, which requires very special skills.
Radio Announcers plan and perform radio programmes. They select and play music, interview guests and read news bulletins. They compile and present many other types of programmes such as actuality, sports and educational programmes.
Newscasters present programmes such as news and weather on television. They are called News Anchors and Weather Casters. There are however many other specialisation fields for Television Announcers. These include continuity announcing or the presentation of programmes such as quiz shows game shows, youth programmes or religious programmes.
Sports commentating require very special skills. The Sports Commentator must have a quick eye and the ability to describe a situation quickly and accurately. He must have a thorough knowledge of sport and must be able to analyse events on the field.
