Photography entails much more than merely taking pictures. Photography as a profession requires a combination of technical and artistic skills.

The work of the photographer consists of two basic activities namely the taking of photographs on the one hand and the development of the film and printing of the pictures on the other. Photographers are categorised according to the subject or type of illustrative work that they undertake.
