Make-up Artists use make-up to ensure that actors on stage, in films and on television look natural. They create special effects such as wounds and aging and ensure that actors such as clowns have the right appearance.

 Make-up Artist work on the sets of theatre productions, films and television shows. Their task is to see that the actors and presenters’ hair and make-up are done correctly and are touched up when necessary. They first analyse the faces of actors and presenters before they start applying the make-up. They take into consideration the shape, bone structure, eye shape and complexion of the actor.

 Make-up Artists work closely with Directors and Consume, Set and Lighting Designers. They do thorough research to ensure that actors’ make-up and hair represent the period depicted in the film or production.

 Make-up Artists can specialise in more than one field such as model-up, old age make-up, fantasy make-up etc.
