Hotel Managers are responsible for the effective control and co-ordination of all facets of the hotel and its operation. To become a Hotel Manager one must have experience of the different aspects of running a hotel. Depending on the size and type of hotel, the General Manager is assisted by Managers responsible for the front office, food and beverages, rooms and banqueting.

Hotel Managers take overall responsibility for the administrative and financial management of the hotel. They ensure that high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained to protect the health, safety and well-being of guests and staff. Hotel Managers must thus have a thorough knowledge of the legislation regulating the hotel industry.

Hotel and their facilities are marketed, among others, by means of advertising campaigns to ensure that they remain profitable at all times. Overseeing the hotel’s marketing is also part of the responsibilities of the Hotel Manager.
