The Credit Check keeps record of the accounts of clients. The recording of financial matters is done in credit registers. This is mainly applicable to small businesses. Some companies and professional people like doctors use a card system while bigger companies, banks etc. use computerised systems in order to have a complete picture of a client’s account at a glance. The work of the Credit Clerk differs according to the type of business and the type of credit control system that the particular business uses. All businesses however need a systematic and organised record of accounts and business transactions. It is the duty Credit Clerks to assist in managing this aspect of the business.
Credit Clerk are alert, resourceful and discerning to maintain effective credit control at all times. The Credit Clerk must be able to strike a healthy balance between a business risk (all businesses contains an element of risk) and encouraging clients to make use of credit facilities. He or she thus needs to have a thorough knowledge of the business environment they are operating in. A good judgement, administrative abilities and good communication skills are also indispensable.
