The Construction Manager’s duties include the planning, execution and supervision of building projects. Most of these duties involve working outside and in close collaboration with members of the professional design team. Construction Manager have a thorough knowledge of all the financial, technical and legal aspects of the building process and are responsible for coordinating and managing these functions.

The nature of the work of the Construction Manager varies from project and form construction company to construction company. It will however mostly include duties such as inputs for tenders, planning and programming of projects to ensure optimal use of resources as well as the monitoring and management of construction programmes to ensure smooth running and timeous completion of projects. The Construction Manager will also be responsible for the quality of materials and labour, the management of sub-contractors and the commissioning of the completed project.
