Our modern world is ruled by computers – from electronic banking and supermarket tills to passenger liners and open-heart surgery. They all rely on the advanced technology of computers have also revolutionised the modern office. In the past, typewriters were used to process text. At present all these text functions are taken over by computers. The individuals operating these computers are also called computer operators.
The Computer Operator uses the following equipment: a keyboard, a monitor and a printer. The operator uses the keyboard to key the required data into the computer. This data is then saved in the computer’s memory. The data can be viewed on the screen of the monitor and can be changed, checked or altered as necessary. If a hard copy is required, the data can be printed on a paper through the printer.
The Computer Operator must have a thorough knowledge of the computer’s software, as the software enables him or her to efficiently perform task.
