Cartoonist prepare satirical or humorous cartoons for publication in most of the visual media. Cartoons are sometimes purely entertaining but are sometimes created as social commentary on the things that happen in our society.

Different media require different skills. Most cartoonists create characters and then generate models of sketches of the character. Cartoonists may write their own script or illustrate the scripts of others. They need extensive artistic talent and experience and they have to be up to date with the political, economic and social conditions of the day.

Television Cartoonists should be very versatile and able to draw anything from comic flash cards to animated cartoons. Television cartoonists make use of sophisticated computer animation software packages to create animated characters for television.

 Cartoonists specialising in advertising must be familiar with selling and advertising.
