Assessors assess the value of properties on behalf of a bank. The aim is to establish whether the money a client wants to spend on purchasing a property is worth it’s price. Should the bond owner not be able to repay his bonds the value of the property should be high enough to enable the bank to get its money back.

The assessor spends half of his or her time evaluating and valuing properties. This means visiting the properties and comparing them with other properties to establish their value.

The rest of the time is spent visiting building sites to do building control. The assessor will ensure that building has progressed far enough at an acceptable quality for the bank to make phase payments towards the project.

After the inspiration round the assessor compiles a report on each property or building project for the financial department of the bank.
