When a person dies, his or her material possessions are divided between the parties specified in his or her will. To ensure that this process happens in an orderly and just manner, a curator is appointed to administer the deceased’s estate.

In order to realistically and objectively determines the value of the estate, an Appraiser is appointed in terms of the Administration of Estate Act. The Appraiser determine the value of any property, merchandise, goods and assets. He or she gathers all the relevant facts and analyses them correctly. By relating the correct and comparable facts to the property, the appraiser express reliable opinion on which the curator can act with confidence.

It is obvious that in every instance the good judgement of the Appraiser is of cardinal importance to the parties concerned as vast sums of money are at stake.
