Accountants are responsible for the financial administration and accurate record keeping of financial affairs of individuals, companies, and public institutions. They prepare and submit financial reports to clients and management to assist them with financial control, management and planning of financial affairs. We distinguish between different types of accountants such as Public, Management and Government Accountants.
Public Accountants have their own businesses or work for accounting firms and provide accounting, auditing, tax and consulting services to clients.
Management or corporate Accountants work for large companies and form part of the company’s financial management team. Government Accountants maintain and examine the records of government departments and institutions. In addition to Accountants responsibility to ensure that financial records are up to date and correct. They also check for waste or fraud. Accountants use special accounting software and have a thorough knowledge of the legislation dictating their area of accounting
